Holiday Hoops Classic Brings Free Competitive Youth Basketball to Duncanville

The holiday season is about bringing people together, and for basketball families, there is no better way to celebrate than on the court. The Holiday Hoops Classic is bringing competitive youth basketball to Duncanville, Texas, on December 19 and 20, 2026, giving young athletes an opportunity to compete, develop and experience high-level basketball during the holiday season.

Hosted by the Old Skool Basketball Circuit (OSBC), the Holiday Hoops Classic is designed to give youth basketball programs an accessible tournament experience without the traditional team entry cost. The event features free team entry, divisions from 6U through high school, and opportunities for both boys and girls to compete.

A Holiday Tournament Built for Competition

The Holiday Hoops Classic is more than a seasonal basketball event. It is part of the 2026–2027 OSBC Road to Nationals Series, giving teams an opportunity to compete as they work toward bigger goals throughout the basketball season.

For players and coaches, tournament basketball provides an important opportunity to put practice into action. Athletes have to make decisions under pressure, communicate with teammates, adjust to different opponents and execute when the game is on the line.

That competitive environment can help young players understand where their skills are improving and where they still have work to do.

Quality Competition With Zero Team Entry Cost

One of the biggest highlights of the Holiday Hoops Classic is simple: the team entry fee is free.

OSBC promotes the event with the message “Quality Competition. Zero Cost.”, creating an opportunity for programs to participate without adding a tournament entry fee to their holiday-season expenses.

For youth basketball organizations, tournament costs can quickly add up throughout a season. A free-entry event can make it easier for teams to participate, gain additional game experience and keep athletes competing without the financial barrier of a traditional tournament registration fee.

This accessibility is consistent with OSBC's broader emphasis on providing competitive basketball opportunities without the elite price tag.

Boys and Girls Basketball Across Multiple Divisions

The Holiday Hoops Classic is open to boys and girls across divisions ranging from 6U through high school.

That wide range creates opportunities for athletes at different points in their basketball development.

For younger players, tournament competition can help introduce them to organized basketball while reinforcing fundamentals such as passing, ball handling, spacing, defensive positioning and teamwork.

As players get older, the competitive environment becomes an opportunity to sharpen basketball IQ, improve decision-making and prepare for higher levels of competition.

For coaches and programs, having multiple divisions also creates an opportunity to bring different teams from the same organization to the same event.

Player Development Beyond the Scoreboard

Winning is an important part of competitive basketball, but player development should remain at the centre of the experience.

The Holiday Hoops Classic highlights player development as one of its key event features.

Game situations allow athletes to work on skills that can be difficult to replicate during practice. Players must read defensive pressure, make decisions quickly, communicate with teammates and respond when an opponent changes its strategy.

A tournament can also teach valuable lessons about resilience.

A missed shot, turnover or difficult loss becomes an opportunity to learn. A strong defensive performance, clutch basket or successful team adjustment demonstrates what can happen when preparation and teamwork come together.

These experiences can help young athletes become better basketball players while also developing confidence and discipline.

Exposure Opportunities for Every Team

Exposure is another major focus of the Holiday Hoops Classic.

OSBC lists exposure for every team among the event highlights, reinforcing the idea that opportunities should not be limited to only a handful of players or programs.

For developing athletes, being seen in a competitive environment can be valuable. Players can demonstrate their skills, compete against unfamiliar opponents and gain experience performing in tournament situations.

For older athletes, particularly high school players, exposure can become an important part of their broader basketball journey.

The combination of competition, development and exposure makes the Holiday Hoops Classic more than simply another game on the calendar.

A Top Facility Experience in Duncanville

The Holiday Hoops Classic will take place at Duncanville Field House in Duncanville, Texas.

A quality facility can make a significant difference to a tournament experience. Players get the opportunity to compete in a dedicated basketball environment, while coaches, families and spectators can enjoy the atmosphere that comes with tournament weekend.

For youth athletes, playing in a professional-style basketball facility can also make tournament competition feel like a major event.

And during the holiday season, the combination of basketball, families and competition creates an atmosphere that can make the weekend memorable both on and off the court.

Part of the Road to Nationals

The Holiday Hoops Classic is part of the 2026–2027 Road to Nationals Series operated through the Old Skool Basketball Circuit.

OSBC describes the series as a pathway where tournaments can provide opportunities to compete against strong programs, earn qualifying opportunities and advance toward the Texas State Championship and ultimately the National Championship.

That gives participating teams a bigger objective.

Every tournament can become part of a season-long journey. Instead of viewing the Holiday Hoops Classic as an isolated December event, teams can use it as another opportunity to compete, evaluate their progress and continue building toward the next stage of the OSBC season.

More Than a Holiday Basketball Tournament

Youth basketball tournaments can create experiences that last well beyond the final buzzer.

Players learn how to compete with teammates, handle pressure, respond to adversity and maintain focus. Coaches gain opportunities to evaluate their teams in real competition. Families come together to support young athletes and celebrate their progress.

The Holiday Hoops Classic brings all of those elements together during one of the most exciting times of the year.

It is an opportunity to play basketball, meet other programs, gain valuable game experience and create memories with teammates and family.
